Or, an account of the antiquitys and remarkable curiositys in nature or art, observ'd in travels thro' Great Brittan." published in 1724  .  William Stukeley, included his observations of Roman and pre Roman, Celtic sites etc  showing walls, floors, walls , houses etc remaining at that date so useful for archaeologists   William Stukeley (7 November 1687 – 3 March 1765) was an English antiquarian, influential on the later development of archaeology, he pioneered the scholarly investigation of the prehistoric monuments of Stonehenge and Avebury in Wiltshire.
