Or, an account of the antiquitys and remarkable curiositys in nature or art, observ'd in travels thro' Great Brittan." published in 1724  .  William Stukeley, included his observations of Roman and pre Roman, Celtic sites etc  showing walls, floors, walls , houses etc remaining at that date so useful for archaeologists   William Stukeley (7 November 1687 – 3 March 1765) was an English antiquarian, influential on the later development of archaeology, he pioneered the scholarly investigation of the prehistoric monuments of Stonehenge and Avebury in Wiltshire. The Britannia Tubular Bridge over the Menai Straits

Originally designed and built by Robert Stephenson as a tubular bridge of wrought iron rectangular box-section spans for carrying rail traffic.
