Engraved Scene of a Siege, " ca. 1800 Mild age-toning and grubby, full page . Image approximately 10 x 16.25 inches Engraving, The capture of Saint Kitts by the French also known as the Siege of Brimstone Hill (January 19 - February 13, 1782) is a seat of the American Revolutionary War . After having landed at Saint-Christophe , the French troops of the Marquis de Bouillé surround and besiege the fortress of Brimstone Hill . After a month of siege, the British garrison, lower in number and hopeless to receive reinforcements, finally capitulated. The Comte de Grasse , who had convoyed the troops of the Marquis de Bouillé and supported the siege, was driven out of its anchorage by the fleet of Admiral Hood . Although Hood's fleet was less than a third, de Grasse was unable to dislodge enemy ships . Hood's attempt to break the siege was unsuccessful, however, and the garrison capitulated after a month. A year later, the Treaty of Paris retrocedes Saint-Christophe and the neighboring island of Niévès to the British. £55 RARE

Orme, Bond St, Corner of Brook St. London.Size Image 190 x 284 mm.French Dragoons capture Sir Edward Paget, then second in command of the British Army in the Penisinsula and, like Wellington, accustomed to ride without an escort. Alone, but for a single Spanish orderly, and having lost an arm in 1809, he was in no position to defend himself. Paget had proved himself to be an able commander - he handled the rearguard with great skill during the retreat to Corunna. Wellington put his capture down to his poor eyesight.£135 FRAMED inc delivery £95 collected perfect no defects

£55 RARE
