From the French edition of James Cook's second voyage entitled Voyage dans l'Hémisphère Austral, et autour du Monde, fait sur les Vaissseaux de Roi, l'Aventure, la Résolution, en 1772, 1773, 1774, 1775 … Engraved by Robert Benard. Published in Paris by Pancoucke in 5 volumes with numerous illustrations, charts, and maps.published 1778 Captain James Cook, explorer, cartographer and hydrographer went to command several notable voyages, the first was from 1768-1771. He was led to his commission by the direction of British overseas exploration in 1766 as commander of HM Bark Endeavour for the first of three Pacific voyages. The magazine began publication with the January 1731 issue. Over time the magazine had various subtitles, including "monthly intelligencer" and "historical review".
