originally London, John Sudbury & George Humble 1611 , The map may come from one of the rare Overton atlases published c.1743 with roads added to the map. The town plans of Huntingdon and Ely, surveyed by Speed himself in c.1605, are the earliest known of these places 380 x 510mm. An impression with good margins. Engraved by Jodocus Hondius, this is one of the most decorative maps of the county, with an inset plan of Ely. This example comes from the English edition of Speed's Theatre,Beneath the plan of Huntingdon is a history of the Earls of Huntingdon, and coats of arms of nine of the Earls. On the other side is a history of the city of Ely, the Royal coat of arms, and a scale of miles. The routes of the roman Watling and Ermine streets are marked on this map, along with the forests, fens, dykes, rivers, hills and windmills £405 inc delivery ** the map was sold to me as 1611 then a collector specified that it was the Overton either way decide
