By Lucas Vorsterman, 1595–1675, Flemish published ca.1635 Image: 9 7/16 × 6 13/16 inches (24 × 17.3 cm) Line engraving and stipple engraving on medium, slightly textured, , laid paper, A half length portrait of Ambroglio Spinola (1569-1630), Commander in Chief of the Spanish Armies in the Netherlands. He faces the spectator, wearing armour with a white ruff, and with the Jewel and Order of The Golden Fleece around his neck. He holds a baton in his right hand and rests the other on his plumed helmet. Drawn by van Dyck and engraved by Lucas Vorsterman is part of the famous ICONOGRAPHY (Icones Principum Virorum doctorum, etc.), a collection of portraits of famous 17th century personages drawn by van Dyck and (mostly) engraved by the leading engravers of the day, Lucas Vorsterman among them. Van Dyck himself etched only 18 of the over 90 plates but for the majority of portraits he merely made drawings in chalk or grisaille. The task of finishing the etchings in line, or engraving the grisailles, fell to artists like Vorsterman, Pontius, the Bolswerts, and Pieter de Jode the younger Unusually whole page with good margins , a few creases that will press out  £65

Full wood engraving circa 1600-1624 portrait of Ravaillac etched, l.o. signed: 'Christoffel van Sichem inventor et fecit'. He has a knife in his hand with which he killed King Henry IV of France in 1610. He himself was celebrated that year. Next to him in the print 3 portraits: Henry IV, Maria de Medicis and Louis XIII. Behind him, among other things, the murder in the king's carriage and the quartering.
