After Jan Janssonius (1588-1664) – Dutch cartographer and publisher from Francois Valentyn [1666-1727] historian of the Dutch East India Company   from his encyclopaedic illustrated account of the Dutch trading Empire in Asia, ' Oud en Nieuw Oost Indien' [Amsterdam 1724-1726].  he studied theology and travelled twice to the East Indies. as a  Calvinist Minister on the Spice Island of Amboina 1686-1694; between 1695-1705 he returned to the Netherlands.The second voyage East took him to Java in 1706  returning for a second time to Amboina 1707-1713. In the preparation of his Oud en Nieuw Oost Indien Valentyn was given  access to the  archives of the Dutch East India Company  enabling him to  copy  earlier 17th Century Dutch voyages . Amongst these  accounts, charts and illustrations of Abel Tasman's Australasian voyages 1642-44 and the manuscript charts and views of Johannes Vingboons  . £40 seriously rare

Cornelis de Bruyn is remembered chiefly for the records of his extensive travels in Egypt, Persia, India, and other countries, illustrated with his own designs., Cornelis de Bruijn (also spelled Cornelius de Bruyn, (1652-1726/7) was a Dutch artist and traveler. He made two large tours and published illustrated books with his observations of people, buildings, plants and animals. This is the account of De Bruyn's second voyage. He left The Netherlands in 1701 and sailed to Archangel and on to Moscow, where he lived for more than a year. In 1703 he reached Persia, and after nearly another year in Isfahan, he continued to Persepolis, the ancient Achaemenid palace. His drawings of these ruins were a disappointment to his public as they differed from those they had already become familiar with.   £20 an important holy site
